Are dauber dot marker coloring pages developmental for toddlers?
You know your little learner loves dot marker pages, but are they developmentally appropriate for toddlers and preschoolers? Yes! Dot marker pages are easy and no-prep for you, plus they’re fun and developmentally appropriate for your child. They are a simple, inexpensive way to help your child develop important skills like hand-eye coordination, grip strength, finger strength, concentration, and manual dexterity. Your child uses their fine motor skills for important tasks like using their fork/spoon to eat, brushing their own teeth, zipping, buttoning, lacing shoes, and more. Won’t it be nice when they can button their own shirt and fasten their shoes?
How to print and use dab it dot marker pages
The circles on these pages are based on the size of my daughter’s Classic Do a Dot Markers.
The circles are ideally sized for this brand of markers, but they also work fine with other dauber or bingo style markers because they’re all pretty much the same size. If your dot markers are spotty, make sure to store them on their sides (not standing up) and pounce them hard a few times to get the ink flowing. To make the dot marker pages reusable, have your child cover the circles with pompoms, felt balls, or big buttons. For a greater fine motor challenge, have your child place the manipulative with a pair of toast tongs or silicone tongs. We like to use these wool felt balls with tongs: Mom hack: for an easy, no-mess activity, use these dot it printables printables with round coding label stickers. This is the perfect activity for car trips, doctor’s appointments, and any time when you just don’t feel like scrubbing marker off the table again. Coding label stickers are inexpensive and can save you tons of time. NO scrubbing markers off fingers, tables, and walls! Stickers are also great fine motor practice - peeling them off the page is tricky for little fingers and placing them requires precision. Plus kids always love stickers, don’t they?
