Memorial Day is celebrated on the last Monday of May and is designated to remember those who lives their lives in the line of duty. It is a different holiday from Veteran’s Day, which is in November and honors all those who have served. Memorial Day is a Federal holiday in the United States and it’s common for businesses to be closed over Memorial Day weekend. This weekend also marks the “unofficial” start of summer. Many high schools and lower grades are out of school for the summer, pools are opening, and it’s time to begin summer fun!
