Coloring pages are more than a fun way to keep kids occupied without screens. They also provide the opportunity to practice fine motor skills and to develop creativity. These New Year coloring pages are kid-friendly and do not contain champaign bottles, champaign glasses, etc. Kids not staying up late for New Year’s Eve? No problem! Color these pages on New Year’s Day, instead. They’re a great way to keep kids occupied if you’re feeling tired or need to cook. They can also be used as a back to school activity for children returning to the classroom. The download button for your free printable coloring pages is located lower down in the post. How to print your own New Year’s coloring pages
Printing your own coloring pages at home is easy, but there’s a better way than using your cheap, thin copy paper. Using a “premium” printer paper, like a bright white 32# paper or even a 28# paper, creates coloring pages that are brighter and nicer feeling. (I prefer the 32# and it, strangely, usually costs less than the 28# even though it’s thicker.) Thicker papers are easier to color on and hold up better to markers and enthusiastic coloring. It’s also easier to blend pencils on these thicker papers, which means they’re more enjoyable for adults and teens to use.
Recommended coloring supplies
Your child may gravitate towards using their favorite crayons, but you might want to provide something a little more special for these festive coloring pages. My daughter loves coloring with gel pens. They’re a great option to add holiday sparkle and shine to your coloring pages! Although nothing compares to Jelly Roll pens, we’ve found Tanmit gel pens to be pretty good for coloring at a much lower price point. Metallic markers are another good choice for younger kids who want to add glitter to their New Year printables. Putting out your free coloring pages as an activity for kids at your New Year’s Eve party? Consider grabbing a big box of Crayola Supertips markers. They’re washable, come in a wide range of colors, and are affordable.
