Use it to help your child remember important daily tasks, such as brushing their teeth, or while learning steps in a new routine such as potty training. It can also be used as a behavior chart at home or in the classroom for individual students. I hope you enjoy and find it helpful! This chart features space to write in six “challenges” (different tasks or behaviors) and check it off for the days of the week. It can be used as a behavior chart or as a chore chart. The choice is yours! Use the checked off days to tally up your reward points at the end of the week. I’m not a huge fan of rewards, but sometimes reward charts or behavior charts are exactly the right tool for the job. I prefer to use charts like this as a chore chart or fun unicorn printable schedule for kids. Remembering multiple tasks is challenging for young children. A physical checklist can be a powerful tool to help your child remember things like brushing teeth, making the bed, and combing hair. Don’t have time to sit down and read? The audio book version is narrated by Kohn, himself, and is an excellent listen. I talk a bit more about rewards and praise in this post on encouraging quotes for kids.
Unicorn reward chart printing suggestions
Because there are are cute unicorns and pretty colors on this printable chart, I recommend using a premium printer paper instead of standard paper. This will produce a nicer looking chart that feels more special to use. You can also print on card stock, but the images won’t be as vibrant. Because card stock is thicker, the ink tends to sink in and “fuzz” a little bit. For a comparison of the same page printed on multiple papers, please visit this post on the best paper for planner printables. If you don’t have a color printer, you can order color print jobs from a local print shop or chain places Staples or the UPS Store. Just email them your PDF file or bring it in on a thumb drive. You can also send the digital files to a professional printer online and have the print mailed to you. It’s generally more affordable to use a home printer, if you have one, but these are print options if you need them. This file is not an editable design, but you can bring it into a free web-based app called PDFEscape to add fillable fields to make your own editable unicorn reward chart. PDFEscape is relatively basic, but it allows you to draw fillable rectangles, pick from a few fonts, and pick from different font sizes. It’s free and doesn’t require you to download special software. It has an option that works directly in your web browser. Of course, making your chart editable on the computer is completely optional. I recommend printing it out and filling it in by hand, but I’ve had a few questions from readers about how to customize PDF files.
