Teaching young children about Hanukkah

This bingo game is a fun way to teach about the Festival of Lights. If you have requests for other printables Hanukkah crafts or activities, please leave a comment and let me know. I’m always happy to hear reader requests and add them to my to-do list!

My family is not Jewish, but some of my sister’s in-laws are Jewish. I like for my daughter to be at least somewhat familiar with their beliefs and holidays when she sees them.

How to print and use a printable bingo game

There’s no need to buy a bingo cage or worry about numbered balls when you play this easy picture bingo game! This picture bingo is a twist on the classic game of bingo. Instead of numbers, each space has an Hanukkah-related image. This Hanukkah bingo game is fun for small groups. It can be used in classroom centers, for classroom parties, at home with your whole family, or with homeschool groups.  Many other bingo games I’ve shared, like this Christmas bingo game, these bingo cards have a 3x3 grid and there are only 10 unique bingo cards due to the small image pool.  Make sure to print your bingo cards on card stock or laminate the pages for durability. I prefer to use 32lb HP bright white paper instead of plain paper because it produces more crisp, vibrant images. Laminate the sheets or slide them into dry erase pockets so they can be reused.  Don’t be surprised if your children or students want to play multiple times in a row!

How to play picture bingo

There is a sheet of calling cards at the back of the PDF. Cut them out and place all of the tiles into a bowl or bag.  Have an adult draw cards one at a time and announce/show the image to the players. Some of the images are similar, so children will have to pay attention to the picture and the color. Players mark off each image as it’s called. The first player to get three in a row wins! Because of the smaller number of unique cards in this set, multiple children could “win” on the same turn. In my experience, kids frequently want to play until they all win or have the whole card covered, so don’t worry too much about having more than one “winner.”
